Paper rules the world.

Why is it that without a piece of paper, no one believes you can do anything? oh sure, in some fields I understand the necessity for formal training, or apprenticeship. like engineering, you need to learn certain scientific formula’s so when you come up against a situation you can know how to solve it. But really… what does a piece of paper mean? wasted time in most cases. I am looking into going to Japan for missions work. I understand that they would want some kind of teaching degree for long term work. that’s the world we live in… and honestly some kind of training in teaching might be beneficial at this point. but then they want all these Bible courses. This kind of thing really gets me thinking. how much training did the early Christians have? sure, the original 12 spent 3 years with Jesus… (but isn’t Jesus with us now as well? Bible says so) and Paul was raised in the temple (but anything about Christ he learned on the go didn’t he?) but what about timothy? timothy got saved, ran a church and got 2 notes to help. The point of missions to my understanding is to bring those who do not know Christ, into an understanding of who he is. then of course it is up to the person to decide. but here’s the thing. we are all called to do that. I feel, in this case… a piece of paper telling me I can do what I already know I can do is a complete waste of time and money. I admit I am kinda frustrated now. Sure… going through these courses I am sure I will learn something. don’t get me wrong. but… sigh. I can work now… but no one would believe me unless I have a small piece of paper saying something that I already know… sigh. it is quite discouraging.
